E-textbook Initiative for Fall 2018

The University Library is pleased to undertake a pilot program for the purchase of electronic versions of textbooks at Cal State LA. The goals of this program include improving student learning and success, as well as making education more accessible to students by reducing costs. The e-textbook initiative will provide students with quick access to course materials available for free through the University Library.

The University Library will only purchase items that meet the following criteria:

  • Unlimited simultaneous use;
  • Perpetual access; and
  • Cost.

Note: Since not all publishers or titles meet these requirements, some books cannot be purchased for this program. Preference will be given to lower-division classes with high enrollment; as this will impact the largest number of our students.

Funding: This pilot program is funded by CSU's Affordable Learning Solutions, which enables faculty to choose and provide more affordable, quality educational content for their students.
