Library Responsibilities

Ms. Kawakami is on special assignment as Director, Strategic Library Initiatives, Office of the Chancellor, California State University. She will be leading system-wide change management processes and professional development strategies to support the successful implementation of academic and library innovations. The current focus of the assignment is the Unified Library Management System (ULMS).

Ms. Kawakami's diverse professional background includes service in academic, medical, and public libraries. Her prior positions include University Librarian (California State University, Los Angeles), Interim Head, College Library (UCLA); Assistant Head for Services and Programs, College Library (UCLA); Program Director for Digital Reference (UCLA), User Education Coordinator, Norris Medical Library (University of Southern California); Consumer Health Information Program and Services Librarian (County of Los Angeles Public Library).
